Many people don’t see themselves as carers. They are just children, parents, partners or friends who care for someone close to them. If you are a carer, you can get help and support from the government and other organisations.

By calling Carer Gateway, you will be connected with a new Australia-wide network of Carer Gateway service providers. They will talk through what you need and help you to find local services and support to help you.

Dementia Support Australia (DSA) provides free advice and recommendations where behaviours are impacting the care of a person living with dementia. This advice is tailored to each individual and the environment where they are receiving care.

The Australian Government website offers further information and fact sheets for any questions you or your family may have regarding home care packages. There is information on consumer-directed care, fees and subsidies and the home care package program.

GetSetUp

GetSetUp: Live classes for older adults

GetSetUp is an online community of people who want to learn new skills, connect with others and unlock new life experiences. Their safe, social and interactive learning environment has been specifically designed for older adults. Classes are taught by older adults and kept small to ensure everyone can actively participate. They help older adults stay mentally and physically fit and create a community where people find meaning and purpose by helping each other and forming new connections.

Council on the Ageing
